Ambitious & spiritually-minded music

Jon Hopkins is an electronic musician from England (Wimbledon), leaning toward deeply cerebral ambient techno.

He studied piano for 5 years at the Royal College of Music and cultivated his fascination for the works of Ravel and Stravinsky. During his teens, he would use the prize money from piano competitions to acquire synths and recording gears to cultivate his new passion: acid house and drum’n’bass sets. His works have received widespread recognition such as Mercury Prize nominations.

He, later on, gained exposure through his work with Brian Eno and Cosplay mid-2000s and gradually shaped his musical imprint revolving around serene beats and meditative textures.

“Music For Psychedelic Therapy” carves a new path for Jon Hopkins sonically and philosophically as a follow-up to 2018’s Grammy-nominated Singularity.

An invite to transcend your day: “Sit Around The Fire”

If you don’t have an hour to spend going through the entire album, we suggest you listen to: “Sit Around The Fire

This deep, philosophical and transcending song is a true meditation ally, perfect to combat anxiety and existential questioning of everyday life.

“beyond all polarities, I am Let the judgements and opinions of the mind be judgments and opinions of the mind and you exist behind that it’s really time for you to see through the absurdity of your own predicament you arent who you thought you were you just aren't that person and in this very lifetime, you can know it, right now. the real work you have to do is in the privacy of your own heart.”

“Music for Psychedelic Therapy”: An LP Inspired by a Ketamine Experience.

Released in 2022, by Domino Record Co., the album programmed beats dissolving and reforming, including breathy vocals and clear piano figures.

Inspired by his ketamine experience in Ecuador’s Tayos caves, Hopkins structures the album as one continuous ambient piece.
